Beyond Resilience:Actions for a Just Metropolis

This Saturday, June 8th, Furman Center Data Manager and Research Analyst Max Weselcouch will be presenting on a panel at New York City’s Beyond Resilience: Actions for a Just Metropolis Conference. The three-day “progressive, practice-based planning conference” will take place across the city and seeks to bring together planners, architects, designers, activists and neighborhood advocates to “exchange ideas and perspectives to promote alternative, more sustainable and just ways of preserving and developing the metropolis”. Max’s panel presentation will be part of a four-part panel series Saturday on Challenging Gentrification and Market-Based Planning. As a speaker on the first panel of the day from 9:30am to 11:00 am, Max and her fellow panelists will discuss “Dual Displacements” and explore advocacy planning and organizing in urban areas threatened by the effects of climate change, like Chinatown, Manhattan and Red Hook, Brooklyn.
