Real median rents grew faster in already high rent metros.

Real median rent increased across the largest 53 metros between 2012 and 2015 at an annualized rate of 1.9 percent. There was wide regional variation during that time period; median rent increased by 6.6 percent in Denver, while Memphis and Cleveland, for example, experienced small decreases. Rents grew faster in the most expensive metros between 2012 and 2015 relative to lower-cost metros.
