Renting in the Largest Metros

The share of households that rent continued to increase in the vast majority of metros.

Renting varied widely across the largest 53 metros: over half of households rented in the LA metro area, but less than one third of households rented in 9 of the 53 metros. Still, the share of households that rented their homes increased between 2006 and 2015 in every large metro, and most metros had an increase in the renter share between 2012 and 2015.
