On October 20th the NYU Urban Seminar Series, co-hosted by the NYU Furman Center and Marron Institute, welcomed Roderick Hills, professor at NYU School of Law, who presented a talk titled, "Tiebout and Mao: Making Foot-voting Safe yet Effective for the Chinese Communist Party."

Hills presented his preliminary theory of how it may be possible to facilitate locational choice (or "foot-voting") in China as a substitute for electoral voting and as a way of helping the Community Party discourage corruption and evaluate the performance of government officials.

The NYU Urban Seminar series is co-hosted by the NYU Furman Center and the Marron Institute. The speaker series is focused on research with implications for urban policy, and features a variety of researchers from across the U.S. discussing their work.
