Asset Sales Program

The Asset Sales Program allows the Department of Housing Preservation and Development to sell city-owned residential and commercial properties that are not appropriate for its affordable housing programs in order to return them to responsible private ownership. The program is designed to give current residential and commercial tenants of multiple dwelling buildings who are in good standing the first opportunity to purchase their building. In the event that the residential or commercial tenants do not purchase, these properties are made available through a Request for Offers process open to the general public. Properties are sold in "as is" condition, and HPD does not provide any subsidies or financial incentives related to the sale, rehabilitation, or redevelopment of the properties.
