Data Updates | February 25th 2016

Citywide, 17% of New York City children age 5 to 17 attended a private school in 2014. Private schools include religious schools and other private schools.

Over 20% of children in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island attended a private school in 2014, while fewer than 10% of children in the Bronx attended a private school.

In two of the city’s community districts—the Upper East Side (MN 8) in Manhattan and Borough Park (BK 12) in Brooklyn— more than half of school age children attended private schools in 2014.
