Policy Director Jessica Yager Speaks on Equitable Resilience

News & Events | September 19th 2014

On September 18, Furman Center Policy Director Jessica Yager participated in a panel discussion about equitable resiliency in New York City, convened by the Center for NYC Neighborhoods (CNYCN) at New York Law School. Yager’s panel discussed how the rising costs of flood insurance threaten the affordability of housing in flood-prone neighborhoods across New York City.

Jamie Rubin, Director of the New York State Office of Storm Recovery, gave the keynote address for the event. And, at the event, CNYCN released a new report featuring stories from New Yorkers living in at-risk neighborhoods and launched a website for homeowners to find information about the impacts of flood insurance for their home ownership costs.
