Moelis Institute Director Speaks at Affordable Housing Summit in Washington, D.C.

On Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 Moelis Institute of Affordable Housing Director Max Weselcouch traveled to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington, D.C. for a summit about global housing affordability challenges and opportunities. Weselcouch spoke on a panel as part of the event, entitled “The Housing Affordability Opportunity: Lowering Costs and Expanding Supply,” which looked at policies and programs to ensure an adequate supply of affordable housing across the U.S. and around the world.

Weselcouch’s panel, which focused on the evidence for changes to housing affordability, also featured leaders from Habitat for Humanity, the Ford Foundation, Enterprise Community Partners, and the McKinsey Global Institute. The event featured a wide variety of federal and city government officials, non-profit, foundation, and development experts, with Vice President Joe Biden and HUD Secretary Julian Castro offering remarks. In addition to HUD’s Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R), the event was organized by Habitat for Humanity and Enterprise.
