Housing Choice Vouchers

The share of all rental households in privately owned units whose occupants use a housing choice voucher from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Median Rent (all renters, recent movers, studios and one-bedrooms, two- and three- bedrooms)

The median gross rent which includes the amount agreed to or specified in the lease regardless of whether furnishings, utilities, or services are included; and estimated monthly electricity and heating fuel costs paid by the renter.

The median rent that landlords advertise for housing units available for rent.

Median Rent Burden

The median percentage of gross, pre-tax income spent on gross rent by NYC renter households.

Moderately Rent Burdened Households (% of all, low-income, and moderate-income households)

The share of renter households whose gross rent made up at least 30 percent of their monthly pre-tax income.

Rental Units Affordable at 30%, 80%, 120% of AMI (% of recently available units)

The share of occupied, recently available rental units that are affordable to appropriately sized households at various income levels.
